It’s that time of year again. We retirees must select our medical plan for the coming year. This is an important decision that can have significant financial and stress related impacts on each of us. We all recognize that there is no one perfect answer for everyone, but many of us feel that we could benefit by sharing our thoughts and analysis of the plan options. The ITBRC will host a set of roundtables for those who are interested in getting together and discussing the plan options. It will be a chance to share our questions and answers with other members of the retiree community. Those who attended previous years sessions felt that it was of great value to them and well worth their time. Please join us on Wednesday November 7th at the IBM Harbor View/Rocky Point facility. The more attendees, the better the discussion.
We have decided to change the format this year for those who are Medicare eligible. The plan choices can be very complex for this group and in recognition of this we will have a seminar from 10am until 11am for those who would like a presentation on the basic structure of the plan and the alternatives that are offered. We are trying to arrange an IBM speaker for this but if we are not successful in that, a couple of the club members have agreed to put together the seminar. This seminar will be followed by a half hour break and then there will be a roundtable for the Medicare eligible starting at 11:30 and scheduled to last until 12:30. You may sign up for the seminar, the roundtable or both.
Since the non-Medicare eligible plan has traditionally been much simpler we will just offer a roundtable for this plan starting at 11:30 and scheduled to end at 12:30.

Include your name and a phone number in case we need to contact you for any changes in the schedule of the program. We are scheduling the sessions based on the anticipated schedule for the medical plan enrollments. The date may have to be changed based on IBM’s schedule for the delivery of packages and close of the enrollment period. Please bring your enrollment package for reference at the program.
